Floreat Athena FC – Tuesday, October 14, 2014
The Football West Gold Medal night was held at Crown Perth last weekend with our own Ludovic Boi finishing runner-up to Perth’s Clarke Keilty.
Boi came within one point of Keilte and surely positions him as the front runner in the 2014 the FAFC Best & Fairest Awards to be held this Saturday night. The runner up accolade caps off a stellar year for Ludo along with his WA State Team selection.
Everyone at Athena extends their congratulations to Ludo and look forward to him helping the blue and whites to silverware in 2015.

A dominant display by Murphy’s Men gave Athena a second 5-0 result in the space of 3 days. This time, the punishment was dished out to our Grand Final nemesis’ Sorrento in Round 2 of the Cool Ridge Cup. 2 fantastic strikes by Mark Walsh, 2 headed goals by Ashely Corker and a cool finish by Yves Mwilla delivered the result to an Athena side brimming with confidence and cohesion.
Was hard to pick a stand out in an all-round team performance, but Aryn Williams dominance in the centre of the park gave his strongest indication to date that he is set on mounting a case for a second tilt at an A-League career.

Floreat Athena FC – Friday, April 11, 2014
After a couple of weeks we’d like to forget, the boys will be looking to pick up 3 points against the NPL new-boys Subiaco.
Floreat Athena v Subiaco AFC
Saturday 12 April
Kick Off: 3pm
Floreat Athena FC – Monday, March 31, 2014
Athena succumbed to old foes Stirling in the the inaugural NPL Rivalry Round on the weekend. The team battled hard but couldn’t create any meaningful goal scoring opportunities and didn’t recover from conceding two first half goals, both in identical fashion from corners.
Adding insult to injury, crowd favourite Jack Allen suffered a serious leg injury that saw him stretchered from the field in the dying stages of the game. The tackle by Stirling recruit Howard Neighbour should have been met with a straight red card, but Neighbour managed to stay on the pitch.
Heavy defeats to Perth and Joondalup in the previous two weeks hurt, but losing to the fierce rivals Stirling is another devastating blow to a side who only a few weeks ago were close to taking out pre-season honours against Bayswater in the Night Series Final.

Floreat Athena suffered an embarrassing 4-1 home loss, for the second week in a row, this time at the hands of ECU Joondalup. Many Athena fans could not bare to watch the entire match, many leaving before the final whistle and therefore missing the consolation penalty scored by David Heagney on 90 minutes. Chris Barbas will look to rally his wounded troops for their trip to Macedonina Park for the rivalry round clash against Stirling Lions.

Floreat Athena FC – Monday, March 17, 2014
Perth SC took home 3 points, bragging rights and a large piece of FAFC pride on Sunday night with a 4-1 demolition of Athena on NPL Super Sunday.
On a day when the club observed a minute silence before all games to pay tribute to the stadium’s naming sponsor and long time club benefactor Mr. Evangelos Litis, the sombre mood for Athena fans continued long into the night with the shocking result. “Unfortunately, the boys couldn’t pay tribute to Mr Litis with a win tonight, but the score line doesn’t reflect the balance of play” said FAFC President Nicholas Tsadilas after the loss. “If a few things fell our way it may have been a different result. But credit where it’s due, Perth took their chances, and that was the difference”.
In contrast, it was a joyous occasion for former Athena coaching duo Taki Nicolaidis and Ante Kovacevic, who now must be fancying their 2014 season prospects.
