WINNERS!!

Floreat Athena FC – Tuesday, September 23, 2014
Despite a valiant effort from Ballajura the club colours were well represented with a convincing 3-1 win to Athena.
The game was up for grabs well into the second half but the hard approach and first to the ball spirit of the Athena boys proved to much for the opposition.

Jack Gipson-Stratton led a strong defence very well supported by Marcus Doherty and Van Pappas setting up Gianluca  who scored a great goal in the first half to rattle Ballajura.

A strong performance by Elvis Gojak and Christopher Van der Groen proved to be the difference between the two teams. A fast and clever Louis Pitsikas set up David Cain and Elvis Gojak in the second half to finish off the game with another 2 goals.
A great effort and a well deserved victory that came only after our boys beat the top team Carramar the week before to book a spot it the finals.
The season was capped off with the Trophy presentation at our club. With the seasons Fairest and Best going to Jack Gipson-Stratton and runners up David Cain and Agustin De La Fuentes.
The player of the finals was Elvis Gojak scoring 3 goals in the finals and for his outstanding finals performance .
A special mention to the injured David Dalbusco who missed the final series due to sustaining a broken wrist late in the season while playing for the team.
Well done premiers.

We're In the Cup Final!

Floreat Athena FC – Thursday, September 18, 2014

Bring on Ballajura!!

We are the only team to beat Carramar this season!

Remember this lads when you play for the  Cup this week. The Team Trophy that will sit proudly in the FAFC Trophy cabinet. Your team cup will sit proudly amongst 63 years of silverware!

In sport its not often that you will get an opportunity to play in a final. Just Ask your parents. This week its yours for the taking.

Players please take are of your bodies this week. You are now finalists. Should you get injured in the school yard or elsewhere you will miss the greatest opportunity in Junior Soccer.

On Sunday Carramar got the jump on us early going into half time we were 1-0 down. A great opportunity Elvis did not miss slotting a great shot past the skilful Carramar Keeper.

It came down to the penalty shoot outs. I am proud to say from 5 shots at goal,5 goals resulted. Well done Elvis, David Cain, Van, Jack  and Agustin.

Spare a thought for the Carramar team . They bow out loosing the first final after a home and away season of nil defeats .Carramar’s coach and his team showed us great sportsmanship and respect. I look forward to meeting them again next season.

Tasso saved 2 great shots at goal. 1 penalty shot and a fantastic shot from Carramar late in the second half. Van and Marcus performed well in defence . Jack was again sted fast in his approach. Well done lads.

Elvis and Agustin well supported by a fast and determined Gianluca ran hard all day and there non stop effort almost rewarded an unlucky David Cain on a few occasions.

Every player can hold their head high with  a great team win with all the boys contributing to a fantastic and well deserved victory.

A big training week this week. MAKE SURE YOU ATTEND BOTH TRAINING DAYS  unless illness/injury  or school commitment interferes.

Thank you players. Thank you parents.

ROUND 2 MATCH REPORT V PERTH

Floreat Athena FC – Tuesday, March 18, 2014

Match Report by Technical Director Ian Munro:

Team played top quality football from the kick off to dominate the game throughout the entire match without producing the killer blow. With five minutes left Aaron hit a free kick into the goalmouth that bounced off the goalkeeper straight into the path of Luke who followed up to knock it over the line for 1-0. In the dying seconds, Perth hit a long speculative shot that eluded the Floreat goalkeeper for the equaliser. It was a sad end for Floreat on the scoresheet but football wise it was a massive statement.

Round 1 Match Report

Floreat Athena FC – Monday, March 10, 2014

Match Report by Technical Director Ian Munro:

U14s scored early with a great strike by Harley in their 1-0 win against Inglewood & looked as if they would run away with a big win but credit to Inglewood who fought hard to come back into the game. The team moved the ball well but on the day lacked just a little composure to turn their good start into goals required to kill the game.
