Message To All Members/Players - COVID-19 and Club Update

Good morning,

From today, May 18, easing of restrictions have taken another step forward with the implementation of the State Government's Phase 2 for COVID-19 recovery.

Along with the introduction of limited patronage for cafes and restaurants, sporting clubs like ours will be allowed to train up to 20 people at the one venue-subject to local council approval.

In short, the City of Vincent (the landlord of Litis Stadium and Britannia Reserve) is maintaining close liaison with the board of your Floreat Athena Football Club, and together we are developing a workable plan to benefit all our members and players.

We hope that in the coming days, a full itemised and structured plan can be distributed among all players, coaches and members to provide better clarity of what is required by everyone. Please see the State Government COVID-19 Safety Guidelines for more information.

Role of Coaches and Team Managers

Going forward it will be the duty and responsibility of ALL team coaches and team managers that the club's COVID-19 policy, particularly around player welfare and hygiene is strictly adhered to. This will be in line with local and state government mandates. We hope to share more details around this in the coming days.

COVID-19 Hygiene Training

As we are a licensed and dine-in venue our staff and relevant volunteers MUST undergo the relevant training to obtain the necessary certification to enable the club's function and events space to re-start. All volunteers and staff who participate in DINE-IN duties will have to obtain necessary COVID-19 hygiene training certification. More details will be sent to all relevant staff/volunteers soon.

Please note our club room will remain closed until further notice.

Player/Parent/Guardian responsibility

While coaches and team managers have the task of disseminating the club's message around COVID-19 safety guidelines, each team participant (player) of Floreat Athena Football Club must comply with the policies undertaken as the club prepares for the recommencement of training and any future competition(s). If an individual fails to comply with the COVID-19 safety guidelines (which are shaped by State and Local Government policy) they risk incurring a hefty fine.

Ultimately the onus is on the individual (or guardians of individuals if under 18) to be aware of the relevant protocols and guidelines in place.

Funding Grants

The board of management has utilised this "down-time" to apply for a range of grants from the City of Vincent and the Lottery West Grants Commission. We hope to deliver good news in relation to these grant opportunities, however it must be remembered that many sporting associations find themselves in a similar space as us.

Volunteers- Donate your time, not your money

As the club prepares for the recommencement of training and any associated competition in 2020, the board is inviting expressions of interest from members and players to undertake an active role across a range of areas at the club. These areas include:

  • Bar & Cafe Volunteers
  • Kitchen & Canteen duties
  • Match day duties for Juniors & Seniors
  • Functions and Events, Social Media
  • COVID-19 Safety & Supervision Volunteers
  • Volunteers to assist with the cleaning of training equipment Juniors & Seniors
Despite the lack of cash flow due to COVID-19, the board believes it would serve the club's best interests if members donated their time. Please send your expression of interest to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.@floreatathenafc.com.au

Finally, we'd like to acknowledge our sponsors: Lexus of Perth, Cantaport Australia, Cornerstone Partners, New Look Dry Cleaners  Sienna's of Leederville,  Direct Couriers Effie's Gourmet, Morley Growers Market and new and emerging partners who have stuck by the club through thick and thin.

We look forward to sharing an update in the coming days about how FAFC players and members can enjoy being back at home, soon.

Thank you for your patience!

Kind regards

FAFC Board of Management
